TRAVEL TIPS
- If you go on the boat ride up to the falls, bring clothes/shoes that dry easily. You will get drenched!
- I like the views from the Canadian side better.
- Clifton Hill is the name of the touristy area near the falls with lots of casinos, bright lights, quirky entertainment, and cheap souvenirs.
NOTES
One of my favorite things about living in New England is how accessible a lot of interesting places are within driving distance from Boston. For labor day weekend, I grabbed a few friends and hit the road to Niagara Falls to see what the fuss is all about. I was impressed by the size and force of the falls (there are 2), especially from the Canadian side. I didn’t care much for the touristy area with ghetto entertainment and cheap motels and eats, though. The ferry ride up to close to the waterfall was fun, and I was fascinated by all the stories of attempts people have made jumping off from the top of the falls inside various barrels/contraptions. People are crazy! All in all, it was a great quick getaway, but there’s not much to do besides snapping photos of the falls from a million angles.
