TRAVEL TIPS
NOTES
I absolutely loved my trip to Tanzania! It’s one of my favorite trips that I’ve ever taken. We visited just after the rainy season ended, which meant that everything was green and in bloom, and there was a lot of wildlife to be seen, including lots of baby animals! We did safari drives in Masai Mara, the Serengeti, and at Ngorongoro Crater and were fortunately able to see the Big 5 (lion, elephant, cape buffalo, rhino, and leopard). One of the most fascinating things we saw was a mother leopard and her two cubs feasting on a gazelle she caught. I also loved spending hours watching the elephants.
We also got to visit a traditional Maasai village and learn about their customs and culture and how they live in huts in the middle of the bush surrounded by grazing zebras and roaring lions. The Maasai women taught us how to dance and the warriors challenged us to a jumping competition.
Before this trip, we had arranged donation drives to collect toys and books to bring to the children at the Jifundishe school and Havilah orphanage. I loved seeing the joy on the children’s faces when we delivered the books and toys. We enjoyed spending time with them playing and learning about the work the Jifundishe NGO was doing for the community.
